How Does Hypnosis and NLP Work Together for Lasting Results?
Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) are a powerful combination for creating rapid, lasting change. Hypnosis opens the door to your subconscious mind, where automatic patterns, beliefs, and emotional responses are stored. In this relaxed, focused state, your subconscious becomes receptive to new ways of thinking and being.
NLP provides the precise tools to reprogram those patterns at the neurological level.

By understanding how your brain processes language, memories, and experiences, NLP identifies the specific thought patterns keeping you stuck and replaces them with empowering alternatives.
Together, hypnosis and NLP create a synergistic effect: hypnosis creates the optimal state for change, while NLP provides the strategic roadmap for transformation. This dual approach addresses not just surface symptoms, but the underlying patterns that created them—resulting in change that happens quickly and lasts. Instead of years of talk therapy or endless willpower battles, you experience shifts that feel natural, effortless, and permanent.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a powerful approach to communication and personal development that focuses on the connection between your thoughts (neuro), language (linguistic), and patterns of behavior (programming). By understanding and changing these patterns, you can overcome limitations, improve your emotional well-being, and achieve your goals.
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy is a guided process that uses deep relaxation and focused attention to access the subconscious mind. In this state, you are more open to positive suggestions and can more easily release old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you. It is a natural and safe state of mind that you experience every day, such as when you are engrossed in a book or movie.
Does hypnotherapy work over Zoom?
Absolutely! Hypnotherapy is just as affective received online as in person. We can make your sessions transformational and convenient — you can receive your session from the comfort of your home or office. We also offer in-person sessions in Brisbane, CA.
Is it safe? Will I be in control?
Yes, hypnotherapy is completely safe. You are always in control and aware of your surroundings. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. It is a collaborative process where you and the practitioner work together to achieve your desired outcomes.
What can I expect during a session?
During a session, you can expect a safe, confidential, and supportive environment. We will begin by discussing your goals and challenges. Then, you will be guided into a state of deep relaxation. While in this state, we will use various NLP and hypnotherapy techniques to help you make the changes you desire. You will feel relaxed and refreshed after the session.
How long does it take to see results?
The time it takes to see results varies from person to person and depends on the complexity of the issue. Many clients experience significant shifts in just one session, while others may benefit from a series of sessions to achieve their goals. We will work together to create a plan that is right for you.
More Frequently Asked Questions
What is hypnotherapy?
The term “hypnosis” comes from the Greek word hypnos, meaning “sleep.” Hypnotherapists use exercises that bring about deep relaxation to achieve a natural, yet altered state, also known as trance, in which the critical factor is relaxed but focused thinking is maintained and encouraged. A person in hypnosis is exceptionally relaxed, mentally, emotionally and physically, has a strong desire to fulfill suggested behaviors and is especially responsive to ideas, images and instruction, but this does not mean that a hypnotist can control the person’s mind and free will. On the contrary, the senses, while in hypnosis, are most often heightened, making them more aware of things around them than usual and they are completely in control of their own self-will and decisions about what to tell the therapist, etc. A hypnotherapist CANNOT control the mind or cause someone to divulge secrets about themselves they do not wish to. However, hypnosis can teach people how to master their own states of awareness. By doing so, they can affect their own bodily functions and psychological, as well as, emotional responses.
What is the history of hypnosis?
Throughout history, trance states have been used by shamans and ancient peoples in rituals and religious ceremonies. But hypnosis as we know it today was first associated with the work of an Austrian physician named Franz Anton Mesmer. In the 1700s, Mesmer believed that illnesses were caused by magnetic fluids in the body getting out of balance. He used magnets and other hypnotic techniques (the word “mesmerized” comes from his name) to treat people. But the medical community was not then convinced. Mesmer was accused of fraud, and his techniques were called unscientific. Hypnotherapy regained popularity in the mid-1900s due to Milton H. Erickson (1901 – 1980), a successful psychiatrist who used hypnosis in his practice. In 1958, the American Medical Association, followed 2 years later by the American Psychological Association, recognized hypnosis as a valid medical procedure and branch of psychology. Since 1995, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has recommended hypnotherapy as a treatment for chronic pain. Other conditions for which hypnotherapy is frequently used include anxiety and addiction, among others (see the “What illnesses or conditions respond well to hypnosis?” section below for more detail).
What can I expect during a session?
During a session, clients can expect a safe and supportive environment where they can openly discuss their concerns. The therapist will guide them through hypnosis or NLP techniques tailored to their needs, ensuring a personalized experience that promotes healing and growth.
During the consultation, the hypnotherapist will talk to you about the issue that brought you in and then explain what hypnosis is, how it works and how it can specifically work for you. Should you wish to have a session, you will then fill out some forms, including medical and psychological history and a confidentiality agreement. You will then be directed through some induction techniques, including relaxation, to achieve a relaxed, hypnotic state where you can best access the power of your subconscious. Each session is tailored to the specific needs of the individual.
Is therapy suitable for everyone?
Yes, therapy is suitable for individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and genders. It is particularly beneficial for those looking to overcome specific challenges, improve their mental health, or develop healthier habits, making it accessible to a wide audience.
How long does therapy take to show results?
The duration for therapy to show results varies by individual and the issues being addressed. Many clients begin to notice positive changes within a few sessions, while others may require more time to achieve their desired outcomes, depending on their unique circumstances.
Can I combine therapy with other treatments?
Yes, therapy can be effectively combined with other treatments, such as medication or lifestyle changes. It’s essential to discuss this with your therapist to create a comprehensive plan that addresses all aspects of your well-being.
